Soulful Portraits 3

Few years ago I created a series of Soulful Portraits instructional videos. This was the last one I created and was actually based on one of my favorite portraits I did. I have never really painted a painting first and then try to recreate it while filming it. It was an interesting experience. I didn’t like the second one as much as I did the first one, but eventually I added few details that made it special again. It showed me, that every painting has its one time place and experience, and even its own story. To access this workshop with your passcode.

Illuminated Pages

This workshop includes 12 months of classes on the history of illuminated art. You will create a large journal filled with pages dedicated to each month, each month covering different region of the world from Mesopotamia form 3000 years BCE, Egypt, Greece, Rome, France, Germany and England. My first curiosity came from the Illuminated Manuscripts and the intricate designs woven into the art and script. I wanted to learn more, and I am taking you on the journey with me.

Butterflies, Flowers and Fairies

One day I woke up and decided that I want to pain fairies, but not just the fairy folk, I wanted to paint them with butterflies and flowers in all kinds of settings. I wanted to recreate their natural or not so natural habitat, but I also wanted to imagine what kind of fairies that I could imagine, and from that imagination this class was born.

Soulful Whimsy

The inspiration came about when I was on location teaching a class with a limited supplies of my own. I wanted to do something playful, so I grabbed a paper bag and refolded it into a journal. The concept was to use the unexpected emerging patterns from the folded pages into creating new images. This is fun class filled class.

There are total of 25 videos of instruction in this course, each about 20 minutes long.

In this classI will guide you to create a portrait using basic inexpensive acrylics. I always thought that the array of colors you can choose from in a craft supply would warrant an experiment. The mixing of colors has to be minimal, but most of these colors come in a variety of beautiful shades and pastel tones. You can create this portrait in your mixed media book or journal, or choose a different substrate. This class also includes a bonus lesson.

Creating a stylized portrait

Join me on a creative discovery to complete this beautifully colored portrait using a sketch from a photograph and then follow your imagination with watercolors, colored pencils and acrylics.
